Fashion Friday: Jis Bèl Collection

While on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisana I decided to pull out this amazing 2 piece number from Jis Bèl Collection because it matched the tone of the area. The word Jis Bèl, means “Just Beautiful” in Creole, a language that is commonly spoken in Louisiana and also Haiti.

The top is a halter with a zipper in the back and a strap that goes around your neck. The bottoms are a high waist pant that flows down into wide-leg bellbottoms. The bright bold colors and the pattern immediately catch your eye, its super hard to look away. You will definitely stop traffic with this number!

This contemporary fashion line features modern designs, bold prints, and vibrant colors. I don’t know what it is about African fashion but I am currently obsessed with it!

The designer, an extremely talented African American woman sources her fabrics from local markets throughout Nigeria, Ghana, and Haiti. Her mission for this line is to bring out every woman’s inner vibrancy through her expression in clothing while contributing to those people and communities who take the time to craft each masterpiece. Each garment is hand sewn by local tailors and seamstresses in each country. The local sourcing of the fabrics does mean that only very limited quantities of each garment are made so don’t drag your feet if you see something on her website that you like.
