Dizengoff – Authentic Israeli-Style Hummusiya

If you’re a connoisseur of hummus and all things that pair well with hummus, then Dizengoff on Sansom St is the place to eat. It’s authentic Israeli-style cuisine with options for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters.

Open daily from 10:30 am – 7 pm so you can grab an early lunch or a late dinner. They change the menu every day, so check out their Instagram page @dizengoff_philly  to see what they are serving each day. Below is the menu they had up when we stopped in for lunch on Sunday.

The menu is not big so we were able to try just about everything on it. The manager Shawn, another great manager that is very hands-on with everything that goes on in the restaurant, personally prepared a tray of different options for us and she explained what each dish was. Everything looked so good, take a look!

We happen to be there on one of the best days because they serve hot Shakshuka on Sundays, as a Sunday brunch item. Shakshouka is a dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, and onions, commonly spiced with cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper. If you haven’t had this before, you definitely need to try it.

Everything was so amazing! Seasoned just right and prepared to perfection. I wanted to take everything with me and eat it all again later. I think a lot of customers have expressed the same thing because management came up with a way for customers to do just that, with the Za’atar Chicken Dinner! It’s a take-out option that serves four guests, a whole chicken served with pita, hummus tehina, and chopped salad.

Whether you decide to eat in or take out, any day you choose to visit Dizengoff you can’t go wrong because every single item on their menu is delicious! Try it for yourself and enjoy!
