Morgan’s Pier: Cold Brews & Great Views

To kick off our trip to Philly we had lunch at one of the best beer gardens we’ve ever been too. Morgan’s Pier, located at 221 N Columbus Blvd had the best view from any table in the restaurant. You can sit at the full bar in the middle of the restaurant or at one of the other seating options, a high table or a picnic table. I immediately fell in love with this restaurant as soon as we walked in, but the cherry on top was the great food and drinks.

The Manager, Tyler greeted us once we arrived and he set us up with one of his most knowledgeable servers. They do card at the door so make sure you bring your ID. You must be 21+ to enter, but if you are a minor accompanied by an adult, you may come just for dinner until 9 pm.

Our server started us off with a round of drinks that she recommended: Cucumber Splash- Bluecoat Gin, Cucumber Simple Syrup, and soda. Our co-founder Geron does not like Gin, but he enjoyed this drink because the cucumber masks the gin and the cucumber taste great.

Blueberry Lemonade- Skyy Blueberry, lemonade and fresh blueberries. I, myself am not a drinker, but I love just about anything blueberry, so the Blueberry Lemonade was delicious also.

Time for the food, Mmmmm! We had three things of off the menu that between us both we wanted to try. From the flatbread section, we chose the Margherita flatbread; it had a thick crust that was perfectly baked, crispy around the edges and gooey on the middle. The sauce and the cheese made this flatbread different from any I have ever tasted, so I had to ask what kind of cheese they used to make it. I think the Grana Padano Cheese is what made this flatbread stand out.

From the Sandwiches section, we chose the Crab Cake and the Beyond Veggie Burger. On the Crabcake sandwich, there was green tomato and cucumber, and on the veggie burger, there was iceberg lettuce and red onion. Both of these delicious sandwiches were served with large pickle quarters sprinkled with pepper flakes; it gave the pickles a delightful little kick.

Mogan’s Pier is the ultimate hang out spot; the DJ was playing the best songs the whole time we were there. Great food, drinks, and music; the best combination. This month, they have weekly events like Tuesday Night Game Night with Bingo, Quizzo, and Baggo (cornhole) as well as live music and entertainment Thursday-Sunday. On Thursday, August 30th, they will also be hosting a Puppapalooza event with the Philadelphia Phillies to raise money and awareness for the PSPCA. Phillies players will be celebrity bartenders and adorable, adoptable dogs will be looking for forever homes! More info for that event can be found here.

To wrap up our lunch, the server brought out a Whoopie Pie, rich chocolate, and strawberry buttercream. We cut it down the middle and shared it. As soon as we took the 1st bite, our taste buds exploded! When we thought the experience couldn’t get any better, out comes this desert and blows us away.

This restaurant is the perfect setting for all occasions, if you want to hang out with some friends or if you want to have a cute date night. Whatever the occasion, we promise you will have tons of fun enjoying the cold brews and great views.
