Goldie – Vegan and Kosher Perfection

This fantastic vegan restaurant was one of my favorite stops on our food journey while we were in Philly. Located at 1526 Sansom St, Goldie is the place to get the best falafels, fries, and tehina shakes.

We were greeted by the super friendly owner Caitlin and her staff once we arrived. She was incredibly cool and very hands-on with her team, I loved that! She ran down the menu with us, gave us a quick background of the restaurant, and then she went into the kitchen and personally put a few things together for us to taste.

First, she brought us out a Turmeric Lime Soda that they make in-house with fresh ingredients. If you are going to have a soda, this was the best and healthiest one to have. It was sweet and tangy, with pieces of raw turmeric swimming around in the cup. She also let us try an original Tehina Shake that tasted like a banana and peanut butter smoothie, delicious!

Next, it was time to try some of the food off of the menu, so she made us a Falafel Salad- baby kale, romaine, carrot, cucumber, tomato, tehina, za’atar, sumac, parsley, dill, beets, cabbage, and Mint. She brought it out with hot, crispy french fries made in-house, covered in tasty shwarma spice and a few pieces of pita bread so we could create mini falafels. Everything on the tray was excellent!

Close to all of the ingredients Caitlin uses in the options on her menu, she also sells in her restaurant in a section she calls “the market”. Any customers can buy them and try to remake some of their favorite dishes at home also. As a female business owner, she supports a woman-owned business called Soom Foods, where she gets some of her ingredients that she uses. How cool is that!

The restaurant is open daily from 11 am to 7 pm so if you are looking for a great vegan restaurant, please stop in and eat at Goldie. I promise you won’t regret it and say “Hi” to the team for us!
