DUMBO Bali: Vegetarian & Vegan Restaurant With An Italian Twist

I always get a little nervous when I travel to far away countries because I never know if I will find any decent vegetarian restaurants. As soon as I landed in Indonesia, I found out that there is a huge vegan foodie movement there and  DUMBO Restaurant was definitely a spot I should try.

I was super excited as soon as I walked in, it was next level! High-end design, gastronomy, music, and mixology in a stunning architectural space. I totally didn’t expect it to look like that at all once we pulled up outside. It was super chic yet informal.

The menu is built around the principles of Italian hospitality: fresh and colorful food to be shared by friends and family over some excellent wine. Our server was perfecto! She was well dressed, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. My guest and I felt like we were having dinner at a cute Italian cafe in Italy with a Balinese twist. The lighting was romantic and there was a huge authentic brick stone oven directly in the middle of the restaurant.

She started us off with a great bottle of wine which is another thing popular thing about DUMBO.

We started with Panzanella: Tuscan bread salad with tomatoes, capers, basil & green olives. A perfect portion for two people. We then moved to the Tempura zucchini flowers: ricotta, lemon, mint and green chili mayo. The perfect mix of textures. We didn’t stop there, another great starter we had to try was the pumpkin ravioli with roast tomato cream sauce, ricotta & basil.

Main Course
Margherita: the classic – tomato, basil, mozzarella and bocconcini. Mmmm… delicious!

We closed the excellent night with Cioccolato: chocolate mousse served on an exquisite dish with cookie crumbles, yummy!

The team at the restaurant was extremely attentive from the beginning to the end. Dumbo Bali instantly became one of my favorite vegan hotspots in Bali. Another cool thing that I wanted to mention is, directly across the street is another great vegan restaurant called The Elephant, it’s DUMBO’s sister restaurant. If you get a chance, give them both a try.
