Turning Point – Little Silver New Jersey

Turning Point breakfast, brunch and lunch in Little Silver, New Jersey embodies the words “Good Home Cooking.” The service is on point, and they treat everyone that walks through the door like family. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the two Kathy’s, the manager and our server. They were the two friendliest women I have ever met. They were both a breath of fresh air, which is super close to there philosophy: “fresh is always best.”

The inside of the restaurant was super neat, clean, and the very homey decor felt like sitting in grandmas kitchen waiting on some good southern cooking. Now, I’m not a coffee drinker, but the editor that joined me on this review is, so our server started us off with one of there signature fresh press coffees, and I went with the Super Berry Smoothie.

My smoothie was made up of strawberries, yogurt, and cranberry juice. Very simple, not a glamorous looking mix but it definitely was a glamorously tasting combination. So good!

Now for our coffee lovers, the Fresh Press was brought out in a cute french press so you could press it yourself at the table. My editor described it as not bitter and not too strong; add the right amount of cream and sugar, and you could drink it all day.

Everything looked so good on the menu; it was hard not to choose everything so to remain sane we let the manager bring out what she felt were customer favorites. When selecting she was very considerate of all of the different types of foodies that read our reviews, so if you eat meat or you don’t, we got you covered.

Let’s get to the food!

The first dish she brought out was the Avocado Artisan Toast: Toasted thick multigrain, plum tomato, crushed avocado, lemon zest, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, cracked black pepper and coarse sea salt. The right amount of avocado was spread excellently on the toast. Everything used to create this dish came together so well, even down to the tomatoes they placed on top. Best avocado toast I’ve ever had.

Next was the Breakfast Nachos which was enough to feed two people. Multicolored tortilla chips topped with scrambled eggs, spicy chicken chorizo sausage, bell peppers, red onions, black beans, cilantro, and melted jack & cheddar cheeses. It was served with a side of homemade salsa and sour cream.

I know what you are thinking, it’s a lot to start with, but we didn’t stop there. Turning Point has a specials menu that changes every Spring and Fall, so we wanted to try a few things off of it. I went with The Protein Boost Bowl, made with all natural grilled chicken, basil pesto quinoa, julienned zucchini, roasted red pepper, fresh avocado, pickled sweet, and two poached eggs. For our vegan foodies like myself, you can have this bowl without the chicken and the eggs which I did, and it was still amazing.

For the big finale… still off of the specials menu and a favorite between both my editor and I was the beautifully plated Summer Time French Toast. This dish tasted as good as it looked! Thick sliced brioche French bread toast topped with a whipped Lemon Raspberry Mascarpone Cream Cheese, fresh sliced strawberries and blueberries with a raspberry reduction on the side. Mmmmmmmm!

Not only is the food at Turning Point amazing but a few other great “need to knows” is the outside seating area where your four-legged furry friend can join you. Another fantastic thing is that every menu item they sell is made from scratch. Soups, dressings, salsa, etc.

If you’re on the East Coast, Turning Point has 16 different locations that you can choose from, in Deleware, Philadelphia and of course New Jersey. So if you’re in the Little Silver area, don’t sleep in and skip breakfast, brunch or lunch because you will regret not eating at Turning Point – Little Silver, where they crack hundreds of eggs a day because they know it’s the best thing for their customers!
